TB Groupe partners up with the 2016 Fête de la Gastronomie

Traditional kitchens: September 23 – 25, 2016

Get ready for the Fête de la Gastronomie, where an estimated 2 million visitors are expected to attend 9,000 events that have been organized throughout France. This annual event has been in existence for the past 6 years. This event gathers professional and amateur gastronomes with the aim of sharing their talents and cooking prowess. This convivial event will allow these individuals to showcase the diverse products that are traditional to each French region.

The French Ministry of Economy and Finances created the Fête de la Gastronomie in 2011. The Secretary of State in charge of Commerce, Artisanal Trades, Consummation and Social and Solidarity Economy works in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture to promote this event.

Each year a specific theme is decided upon. This theme is always thought provoking and inspires interest in learning about French Gastronomy.

2016 Fête de la Gastronomie

The theme for the 2016 Fête de la Gastronomie is “everyday kitchens.” This theme focuses on sharing and transmitting the cultural importance of French cuisine to everyday French culture.

This theme speaks about the bounty of everyday life (at home, in the cafeteria, at a restaurant…) and communal living. Everyday kitchens are both creative and simple. They are built upon the diversity of our cultures and unite France’s rich culinary heritage.

Details about the program

Numerous events organized around this theme will be held over three days. You can find more detailed information about the Fête de la Gastronomie’s scheduled program for your area by clicking here!

Ceramic knives

What is the secret behind this manufacturing process? Well, that’s top-secret information! However you should know that the blades of these knives contain a high level of Zirconium Dioxide (the most pure mineral in the world, alongside diamonds). This is one of the factors that have made these knives so successful.

If you are looking for a kitchen knife that is synonymous with an exceptional cutting capacity, blade strength, long lasting cutting edge and hygienic properties, you know what you have to do!

An ever-growing event

The Fête de la Gastronomie’s origins

The Fête de la Gastronomie is a rather new event established in 2011. However other events surrounding French gastronomy have been organized since the early 2000s.

In 2003 a famous brand of flour created an event called “Cuisine en Fête” that was modelled after the Fête de la Musique (a national music festival in France) and the Fête du Cinéma. The event Cuisine en Fête was aimed at promoting the kitchen in all of its different forms and gathering both professionals and amateurs. 700,000 individuals attended approximately 1,000 events throughout France.

May 21, 2010 marked a very important day in the history of the Fête de la Gastronomie’s history. The CNAALIGATO (Coordination Nationale des Actions Alimentaires Gastronomiques et Touristiques) organized a fundraiser using social media platforms in order to promote the gastronomy, touristic and nutritional sectors.

These spontaneous and individually organized initiatives helped create the Fête de la Gastronomie as we know it today.
State institutions support this event, which is the response to a high public demand for an event promoting the culinary arts and all of its branches (for example artistic cutlery and kitchen products) while celebrating this unique national culture.

Multiple goals

Each year the Fête de la Gastronomie publicises itself as being a large gathering of professionals and individuals which allows them to exchange information through various conferences and events such as: picnics, regional food and beverage tastings, guided tours of renowned French kitchens, organized events taking place at markets, cooking workshops and much more.

The Ministry has defined the event’s objectives as follows:

  • Celebrating French culinary heritage: Chefs, restaurant clientele, farmers and other related trades (waiter, culinary arts, cutlers, etc.)
  • Making the kitchen accessible to everyone
  • Promoting gastronomy as a major factor in developing the country’s regional economy
  • Showcasing the sectors connected to gastronomy (tourism, agriculture, education)
  • Promoting regional goods and quality products made in France

Everyone is allowed to organize their own event, celebration and other meetings for the Fête de la Gastronomie. However each organizer must sign up on the official website and respect the event’s guidelines.

Feel free to participate in the activities organized by the Fête de la Gastronomie, which will be taking place September 23-25, 2016. It is not a problem if you live abroad because numerous festivities have been planned in a dozen countries, including: Belgium, Canada, the United States and many more.
